The clients — a professional pianist and her partner — asked for a living room that would "make the piano sound better and look like a showroom." We consulted with their tuner on acoustic treatment, then installed sound-dampening drywall with a skim-coat plaster ceiling to reduce reverb. A designer ceiling medallion supports a custom Waterford copper chandelier. We refinished the oak floors to a deep espresso, built custom window-seat benches along the south-facing wall, and replaced all trim with 5" clear baseboards. The room now looks published and sounds like a recital hall.
